Currently, Chung Hwa Middle School, BSB is about 8 acres in size and consists of 8 blocks of buildings.
There are approximately 2000 students and 130 teachers.
The secondary block is a three-storey building where you can find a music room, two art rooms and 20 classrooms for secondary students. Each classroom is equipped with air-conditioners, whiteboard, projector and projector screen.
The primary block is a two-storey building where you can find a dental clinic, a counselling room and 40 classrooms for secondary students. Each classroom is equipped with air-conditioners, whiteboard, projector and projector screen.
The Administrative Block is a four-storey building. Principal’s Office, Administration Office, Staff Room, People Development Office and Accounts Department are situation on Level 2. On Level 3 are three computer labs and one teachers’ computer lab. Level 1 and Level 4 comprise classrooms and playground for kindergarten children.
Darussalam Hall is situated next to the Primary Block and can accommodate around 2000 people. This air-conditioned hall is equipped with multimedia devices and a basketball court. Assembly and various school functions are also held in the hall. The hall is also used as the exam venue for public examinations, such as PSR and GCE ‘O” Level.
Boon Pang Hall is situated on the first floor of Primary Block, opposite Counselling Room. It is also the ideal venue for dancing rehearsal, drama performance and wuchu practice.
Aw Boon Haw Hall is situated on the fifth floor of new building (next to the library). The hall is a multipurpose hall which serves as a venue for exhibitions, seminars, dancing practice and examination. The hall can accommodate around 70 candidates in an examination setting.
Ong Tiong Oh Lecture Hall is situated on the first floor of the new building. Equipped with air-conditioners, computers, a projector, projector screen and PA system, the hall can accommodate around 150 students. Not only are workshops and seminars are held in this hall, but also drama competition, speech contest and storytelling competition.
This room is used by the Board of Directors and Heads of Department to hold their meetings. It is also used for entertaining and welcoming the visitors. Equipped with computers and projector, this room is also an ideal place for playing videos and delivering presentation.
The gallery is situated on the third floor of kindergarten block. It was built in 2002 when the school celebrated its 80th anniversary. It serves as a place to keep historical documents and photographs so that our students can know more about the effort and contribution by the iconic figures of the school. Additionally, this gallery also preserves the documents about the Chinese community of our nation.
The school’s dental clinic is situated on the first floor of Primary Block. It offers dental health services to students from kindergarten up to secondary.
The school’s clinic is situated on the ground floor near Boon Pang Hall and the new building. Two qualified nurses are working full-time in the school to provide treatment for the students before they are referred to the doctor should they experience any discomfort in the school.
The teachers’ office is situated on the first floor of the Administrative Block. Each teacher is given a table with a noticeboard, book shelf and drawers.
The school has 4 computer labs, three of which are used by the students for their ICT lessons. One of the four labs is specially built for teachers to design handouts and worksheets.
Science laboratories are situated on the third floor of new building. There are altogether 5 laboratories, which are Physics lab, Chemistry lab, Biology lab, Upper Primary Science lab and Lower Primary Science lab. The laboratories provide students with the opportunity to get firsthand experience and carry out experiments.
The school’s library is situation on the fourth and fifth floor of the new building. There are a collection of 50 000 books in the library, which encompass Chinese, Malay and English languages. Several initiatives have been taken to attract students to study and borrow books from the library so as to cultivate their interest in reading.
The counselling room is situated on the first floor of Primary block, near Boon Pang Hall. There are two counsellors providing counselling to our students who experience emotional issues. They also provide guidance on career options as well as local and overseas tertiary education options.
Scout Room, which is located next to the school’s clinic, is designated as a workroom while preparing for co-curricular activities and community service, and a store room where tools and materials are kept.
This area is designed for kindergarten children to have relaxation and outdoor activities.
Kindergarten dancing room is situated on the first floor while the music room is situated on the second floor. Activities are held in these two rooms, providing a platform for the children to showcase their talents.
The school’s canteen is located near Darussalam Hall. There are four stalls altogether, which sell food and drinks according to the rules set by the MOE. Basins and handwashing liquid are provided for students. The canteen can accommodate around 500 students.
The school’s cooperative store is run by the management with the help of students from Entrepreneurs Club. Stationery, notebooks, uniform, PE shirts are sold in the store.
The P.E. room is situated on the ground floor of teachers’ hostel. It is where sports equipment is kept and where gym activities are carried out.
The prayer room is situated on the second storey (same level as Teachers’ Office). The launching ceremony was officiated on 30 August 2002 by Pg. Duraman bin Pg. Hj. Damit, Ketua Unit Institusi Bahagian Rendah, Jabatan Pengajian Islam, Ministry of Education, Brunei Darussalam.
Teachers’ hostel is opposite Darussalam Hall. There are altogether three blocks which are designated as teachers’ hostels. Each building is equipped with kitchens and toilets.
